What God Can Do For You
by Gene Tope
“Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” – Hebrews 13:20-21
What can God do in my Life? What can He make of me?
He Can Give You New Life. If you are not yet a Christian, it is of vital importance that you become one, “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). God gave His Son to die on the cross for you (John 3:16-17). Jesus proclaimed, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). If you will believe in Jesus, repent, and be baptized you will receive remission of your sins (Acts 2:38). Life will begin anew for you and you will be a “new creature” (II Corinthians 5:17).
He Can Give New Direction to Your Life. Those outside of Christ have missed the meaning of an abundant life (John 10:10). Being in Christ gives our lives new direction with meaningful, spiritual goals. God can teach you humility. “Whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant” (Matthew 20:26). God can teach you to love the good and hate the evil. “Abhor what is evil; cleave to what is good” (Romans 12:9). God can give you peace, contentment, happiness. “For I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am” (Philippians 4:10-13). God can give you understanding of things eternal (II Corinthians 4:16 - 5:10).
He Can Make Your Life a Busy Life of Service. The Christian’s life is a busy life of service. It is the best of all lives as he goes about doing good to all men (Galatians 6:10). The Christian derives much happiness when he is at his busiest doing the will of his Father. There is work for all. God can make you a servant to your family (Colossians 3:18-21). Husbands will love their wives and children, leading, guiding, and providing for them. The wife will love her husband and her children. She will be happy and contented as a worker at home. She will keep herself pure. In short, she will strive to be the worthy woman of Proverbs 31:10-31. Children will obey their parents, giving them honor. They will help with household chores. They will fear God and keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14). God can make you a servant to your brethren. “Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant” (Matthew 20:26). You can teach, you can encourage, you can edify, you can restore. Even the least talented, shy, man or woman, among us can be the greatest servant of all. God can make you a servant to the world. Christians are the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5: 13-16). The world is to see and glorify God through our good works.
He Can Give You a Home in Heaven. Our citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20-21). This is the goal of God’s providence working with you throughout your life. He wants to save you eternally in heaven. We will see Christ and be like Him (I John 3:1-2). How beautiful heaven must be. Let us think about heaven every day, purify ourselves, and make our plans to go there. Don’t let anything, or anybody, interfere with God’s plan for your life.
God can do wonderful things for you. Will you let Him?
