The Fallacy Of Evolution (Part 1)

by Micky Galloway

The Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork” (Psalms 19:1). “By faith we understand that the worlds have been framed by the word of God, so that what is seen hath not been made out of things which appear” (Hebrews 11:3). When we begin a study of origins, there can be only two possible explanations. Either God created everything. Or everything has evolved.

If evolution be true, we are left with the never ending question, “But, where did that come from.” This is accepted by both evolutionists and creationists. Evolutionist Niles Eldredge said, “Indeed, the only competing explanation (with evolution, mg) for the order we see in the biological world … is the notion of Special creation …” (Time Frames, New York: Simon and Schuster, 1985, page 29). Creationist Luther Sunderland agreed, “There are really only two general concepts … Life either evolved from a common ancestor, or various different forms first appeared abruptly on Earth” (Darwin's Enigma, San Diego: Master Book, 1984, page 24).

Definitions of evolution and creation – Evolution: “A theoretical naturally occurring process of change which produces increasing complexity from lower, simpler states to higher more complex states.” Creation: “The point of view of origins which says the elements and all living things were made by a creator for some purpose” (Taylor, Paul S, The Illustrated Origins Answer Book, Mesa: Films For Christ, 1989, pages 3-4). Note the distinction between general theory and special theory of evolution. Special theory: (Also called Micro-Evolution) Changes within a group. Small changes within bounds. Differentiation, variation, fluctuation. There is no disagreement over this as it is possible to produce through selective breeding cattle that are black with a white face and no horns. General Theory: (Also called Macro-Evolution) Large changes which suggest that a water creature became a creeping thing, which became a beast, which became a man. Thus, all living forms in the world have arisen from a single source which itself came from an inorganic form. This is denied emphatically!

Evolution and Creation cannot coexist. They are mutually exclusive. Some have attempted to harmonize these in the name of theistic evolution. “Any evolutionist worth his salt and any creationist who genuinely believes the Biblical account of creation finds theistic evolution intellectually nauseating and those who adhere to it as intellectually dishonest. If the theory of evolution is accepted as true, then the Biblical account of creation must be rejected, which includes man being created in the image of God” (Kinzel, Tom, Florida College Lectures, 1995, page 57). Some maintain that the theory of evolution does not interfere with our concept and faith in God and Christ. This cannot be true, for if evolution is true, then the Bible is false. If the Bible is false, then our concept of God who created all things is void, for our concept of God is revealed in the Bible. “For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe …” (I Corinthians 1:21ff). The theory of evolution denies the necessity of supreme intelligence. “For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, (even) his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse … because that, knowing God, they glorified him not as God, neither gave thanks; but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:20-22). Any effort to explain all things in nature as merely trial and error, the result of natural process eliminates God completely. It is impossible for one to hold to the deity of Jesus and the general theory of evolution or to theistic evolution at the same time. Jesus gave His approval to the creation account in Genesis 1 and 2 in the text of Matthew 19:1-5. “In the beginning, God made them male and female.” Man did not evolve from the lower forms, but was created capable of reproducing his own kind.

Consider the Atheist’s explanation of life. The theory of evolution asserts that life came from non-life; that many kinds of life now existing at all levels developed from one or more forms or cells of life. The reason for this explanation is there is no other explanation for the origin of life other than a creator. The Atheist is not willing to accept this. The unbelieving Egyptians believed that all life came from the river Nile. When the river overflowed little white worms were left, and from this the Egyptians thought life began. This is why it was so devastating that God turned the river Nile into blood (cf. Exodus 7:14-19).

In our next study we will examine the evolutionists’ claims for his position from science and we study what credible scientist say about such claims.
